Native vs. Grafted Pecans: Both Natural, Both Regenerative
At TLC Ranch, we grow both native and grafted pecans — and while they share the same roots in healthy, regenerative soil, each offers something a little different for your table.

Native pecans are the wild originals of the pecan world. These trees grow naturally from seed, and have been on our property for generations. Their nuts are typically smaller, but they pack a rich, robust flavor that tastes like pure Oklahoma soil and sunshine. Because native trees develop deep roots and natural resilience, they help rebuild soil health and support biodiversity — making them a favorite for anyone who values flavor and the environment.
Grafted pecans, on the other hand, combine the best of both worlds. Growers graft a cutting from a proven variety (known for consistent flavor or size) onto hardy native rootstock. This process has been used for centuries and the result is a larger, more uniform nut with a smooth, buttery flavor that’s perfect for baking, gifting, or snacking. Grafted trees are still deeply natural, and because they grow on native roots, they thrive within the same regenerative ecosystem as our wild trees.
So which should you choose?
Go native if you don't mind that your nut is smaller and love rich flavor, natural variety, and nature's sweetness.
Go grafted if you prefer a larger, more uniform and plump nut with a buttery soft texture.
Better yet, order both and compare them for yourself!
Either way, you’re choosing a pecan grown with care for the soil, the trees, and the generations that follow. At TLC Ranch, both are as natural — and regenerative — as it gets.
